Golkọnda, Ruinenstadt in Indien, im mittleren Dekhan, 10 km westlich von Hyderabad; 1512-1687 Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Sultanats, das 1687 durch den Mogulherrscher Aurangseb erobert wurde. Die Ruinenstätte ist von einer Verteidigungsmauer mit 87 Bastionen aus Granit und einem Graben umgeben. Acht Stadttore führten in die Stadt, über die der 120 m hohe Burghügel mit Palästen, Zeughaus, Kasernen usw. herausragt. Nordwestlich außerhalb liegen die Kuppelgräber der Sultane aus schwarzem Basalt, mit weißem Stuck und früher reichem farbigem Fliesenschmuck bedeckt. Ihr Unterbau ist von Arkaden umzogen, zum Teil doppelstöckig; Treppen führen zu den unterirdischen Kammern und zur Kuppel. Jedem Grabbau ist eine kleine Moschee angegliedert.
